Disputes Tribunal Assistance
Find Facts - Confrim Facts - Learn Truth
Lodging a claim in the disputes tribunal can be daunting. We offer assistance with making your application and getting it right the first time with the available evidence you have and we can speak to witnesses relating to your case. No lawyers are involved in the proceedings as the hearing is heard by a court referee who will make a judgment order based on your disclosure and what you say on your day in court. It is important to present the all the correct documents and exhibits at the time of lodging the claim. All claims must be made within six years of the event that casued the dispute.
The tribunal is for cases that do not exceed $30,000 and is quicker and less expensive than initiating civil proceeding. The settlement reached by the referee is binding.
An important part of making the claim is to verify that you have made a legitimate effort to resolve the dispute by talking with the other party involved, this is often difficult as usually these meetings or conversations can become heated resulting in a worsening dispute. We help work through this procedure as an impartial party to the dispute and have the conversation or meeting with the other party to try and resolve the dispute before the claim moves to the dispute's tribunal.
